Competition entries have now been judged for 2012's 'Young Photographer of the Year' competition. The theme this year was "Changing Wirral" and budding photographers were asked to send in a photo they had taken, which could be anything from the changing landscape to a new building or project being set up in the local area.
Zach Coburn won the 11-16 years category when he captured a sunset down at Marine Point in New Brighton.
Gracie Formston was the under 11 category winner, with her picture of 'The Light' cinema, also at New Brighton.
The competition winners each received a cash prize of £50 from The Rotary Club of Birkenhead, together with a certificate. They were invited to a special reception at the Mayor's Parlour and given a conducted tour of the Council Chamber.
The competition, which ran from January until March 2012, was sponsored by Wirral Council, The Rotary Club of Birkenhead and the Wirral Globe newspaper. It runs every year, so keep your eyes peeled on teenwirral early next year if you think you might want to give it a shot and enter!!
